Backyard Movie Party

A little over a month ago, I held a party for Chirags 25th birthday. Considering that he is now a quarter of a century old, I decided to make it big. The idea started with something movie-related as he absolutely loves watching movies on the big screen. I then tried to incorporate my love for the outdoors, and soon enough... Lightbulb! Backyard Movie Party! I, along with some of my trustee family members, began brainstorming. I started collecting decor pieces two months prior to the party date. I was entirely dedicated to event design, and wanted to make the party look spectacular. I come from a family of foodies so after creating the menu with everyone, we all took upon tasks according to our strengths. I dove into design and presentation. After deciding to have a rustic feel to the party, I went over to Zachy's Wine Store who so generously donated beautiful wine crates of different sizes and designs. After collecting whatever we needed, booking a 2-story inflatable movie screen and sending evites, the day of the party arrived!

I won't say much more as the photographs will do most of the 'talking'. But look out for the menu and tips as you scroll through!

Funny/Romantic Story about those black easels. I got them from the time Chirag proposed! He had set up 6 easels with 6 huge images from each year that we were dating. It was like a walk down memory lane, but so much cooler. Of course, that is only part of the the beautiful proposal, but more on that another time. ;)  I ordered 36" x 48" movie posters, such as Casablanca, The Godfather, Breakfast at Tiffanys and The Wizard of Oz. They were placed around the backyard to bring together the theater feel.

Movie quotes that have the name of the dish in the phrase? Awesome.

Gelato Bar:  Chocolate and Vanilla Gelato (Xocolatti)     The Gelato was filled in 4 oz mason jars, and put into a tin bucket filled with ice. I used a large cupcake pan, for toppings. All the guests needed to do was to choose their gelato, open up the jar, add in toppings, with perhaps drizzle in some nutella or home-made caramel!

Here is an image of the walkway to the movie screening area. I forgot to take photographs of the seating before it got dark. But this gives you an idea. We used shipping crates as tables, lanterns and candles as mood lighting, and gave take-away containers for people to put their drink and popcorn in, and gave cello-bags to put candy in. Of course, thanks to Fun Flicks, for the movie screen!

The movie party turned out really well! Hopefully, this very detailed post inspires you to make any party (big or small) fabulous! 'Till Next Time ;)
