“OMG that is amazing, I am so proud of you!”
“Holy cow, San Francisco? Heck Yeah!”
“Oh wait...how am I gonna leave my family and friends...and NY?”
Those were the first 3 things that rushed to my mind (in a span of 5 seconds) when my husband called me from work saying that a private equity firm in San Francisco was interested in having him work for them. Those three weeks were filled with a rollercoaster of emotions. Let me tell you: having massive butterflies fluttering around in your tummy for so long, can do no one good. Finally, after 13 interviews, Chirag was offered a position at their firm, and after discussions with both sets of parents and siblings, it was final... we were moving to San Francisco!
I’d tell you how our families took it when we told them that moving away from NYC was an option, but I'll spare you the drama that had ensued. In the least words possible, fathers took it well in terms of career opportunity & mothers were heart-broken. But hey, they are all happy for us (or will be, in due time), and know in their hearts that it's a can't-miss-opportunity.
The last week or so has been filled with: an uncountable number of lists, hours of apartment hunting, daydreams of furnishing the apartment, and simply trying to wrap my head around the fact that we are actually moving. I know for some, its not a big deal- but for a girl whose never been away from her family, it's a pretty big deal.
But, in truth, I cannot wait to move. I’m looking forward to furnishing our own apartment, living in a new city, experiencing new things, making new friends, and hopefully making the next couple years unforgettable.
I’ve started this blog, (in hopes that I’ll continue it) so that I can share with you all the things I love. Event design, cooking, baking for Whisk Me Away NYC (even though now, it'll be in SF), critiquing restaurants and being newly married. Really, everything under the sun. I hope you enjoy it, comment on it and share it.
